Abingdon Health is delighted to announce the appointment of Olly Gardner as Chief Operating Officer.
Olly has a wealth of leadership experience from his successful 17-year career as an Army Officer. Initially training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, Olly commissioned into the Royal Signals where he reached the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Olly led British and Gurkha soldiers in many locations across the world, before culminating his military service in the Ministry of Defence, where he worked closely with US Department of Defense leading a number of special projects.
Post Army, Olly has held senior industry roles at RWE npower and York-based Park Leisure. During his time at Park Leisure, Olly held numerous executive appointments, including Chief Operating Officer. Olly’s people focused strategies here, led to a significant improvement in the operational performance of the business. At RWE npower Olly led the customer experience transformation programme that focused on putting the customer at the heart of the company’s decision making. Olly also set up npower’s Operational Readiness team that worked closely with Legal, Regulatory and Compliance teams, to drive operational change into the business.
Olly’s role at Abingdon Health will focus on leading the Company’s exciting growth plans in operations, quality & regulatory, technology and people. Olly will report into CEO, Chris Yates.
This appointment is during an exciting time for Abingdon Health, who are leading the UK-RTC consortium in the development of a point of care COVID-19 Antibody test for the UK Government. Abingdon Health announced on 29th June 2020 that the UK-RTC product had reached design freeze, a critical milestone. Abingdon Health also announced on 17th June 2020 a significant increase in their manufacturing capacity with two new automated manufacturing lines that make the company the leading European rapid test manufacturer.
